community service - adias - 02-23-2007 For those of you interested in community service , you might consider Hilo Habitat for Humanity. http://www.hilohabitat.org/, their web site is outdated and they are not very good with email, if interested call. Phone: (808) 935-6677 Office: 140 Kinoole St. ~ Hilo, HI 96720 Currently there is a project in progress in Ainaloa and they would love to get more volunteers; great way to help out the community with a little sweat equity. RE: community service - Momi - 02-23-2007 And if anyone is interested in organizing classes for pregnant women featuring Hawaiian herbs, lomilomi, yoga, circumcision decision awareness and self help education. Please feel free to email me. We are starting a group in S. Kona at SKEA on the 1st Wednesday of everymonth @ 7:00 p.m. A focus is, nurturing the mother, teaching fathers massage techniques and whatever the community is interested in offering as we are looking for volunteers who are interested in sharing their talents to help the next generation before they come into this world. We have a Yoga teacher who is helping to create this class which is called Malama i na keiki along with a friend Clare who is a midwife. All are welcome at these free classes. Anyone interested in helping to organize a class like this in Puna, let me know. Mahalo! Thanks adias your on it. I guess I could have done that. RE: community service - John S. Rabi - 02-23-2007 Small world Momi, I have been donating to SKEA for years while Arnie Rabin's wife was the Executive Director there. Of course had I had Simon's $30M/year income I would have donated even more! ![]() Aloha, John S. She's been gone for quite awhile now. This class is separate from SKEA's program and we appreciate them allowing us to use there facility for this class. I guess it's not about the money. I also guess, donating money 5 years ago counts as some kind of community service. Edited by - momi on 02/23/2007 16:35:17 RE: community service - oink - 02-23-2007 Smaller knives please. S.
