Hilo Band Stand Oct 15 @ 2 pm Join the Movement - whalesong - 10-06-2011 Here is your chance to make a difference and stand for change in America. Occupy Wall St is being supported worldwide, "This is What Democracy Looks Like" Stand up for change! Have you had enough of the Corruption yet? "Screw Us and We Multiply"[] The Corrupt "Fear Us" The Honest Support Us The Heroic Join Us 951 Cities worldwide has now joined the movement http://map.15october.net/ Now, that's something to smile about! Sad reality[!] Nearly half of households on Welfare http://blogs.wsj.com/economics/2011/10/05/nearly-half-of-households-receive-some-government-benefit/tab/interactive/ [red]Hilo Event http://pol.moveon.org/event/events/event.html?event_id=122034&id=31781-17938291-h8dTMox&t=1 Derrick Kardos An open letter to the media: you're still not getting it. your reporters are lazy. traditionally, protests have been the culmination of a movement organized by a heirarchy of leaders who determined demands and then held public protests to promote those demands. old way: injustice-->organization-->demands-->protest. but we aren't a traditional protest. our way, the protest comes first and serves as its own organizational tool. the protestors determine their own demands. messy, but much more democratic, yes? the problem with the old way is the protest ends, the protestors go home, and the demands are ignored. repeat. but our protest never ends. that is why we call it an occupation. new way: injustice-->occupation-->self organization-->revolution what you reported as disorganized and rudderless was actually in the process of self-organizing. you were too blind to see it. you were looking for an end at the beginning. in just 3 weeks we've grown to over 60 cities. we are ever 10000 strong today in new york alone. we are occupying. we are organizing. we are growing. we are not going to stop until our demands are met. it is we who are too big to fail. We are the People. We hold this Truth to be self-evident: A government which represents only the interests of banks, media conglomerates, corporations and the richest #1 is no longer democracy. It is oligarchy. A new form of democracy has come to rescue the old: a democracy by, for, and of the People again. Declaration of Occupy Wall St. http://nycga.cc/2011/09/30/declaration-of-the-occupation-of-new-york-city/ RE: Hilo Band Stand Oct 15 @ 2 pm Join the Movement - Cagary - 10-09-2011 Question: Do you support Obama in his re election bid? Its a pretty simple question. Yes or No? If yes, should we make Obama "President for life", abolish Congress and the Supreme Court and give him unlimited power to change society. Abolish capitalism, voting, private property, etc. A dictator is the only way for your demands to even have a chance to happen. A majority of people are just not going to vote for the things "Occupy..." are asking for. The people are just too "stupid" to know what is good for them and they always vote "wrong". Is this your end game, some sort of benevolent dictator in charge? If not, what is your end game, education camps? RE: Hilo Band Stand Oct 15 @ 2 pm Join the Movement - whalesong - 10-09-2011 No, I will not be voting for Obama again. NO, dictatorship is not the way to get our demands meet. We just don't want a corrupt Govt anymore. All they know how to do is lie. Obviously, you haven't been paying attention, or you'd be outraged too. Man must put an end to war, or war will put an end to mankind. Give peace a chance... quote: RE: Hilo Band Stand Oct 15 @ 2 pm Join the Movement - Bullwinkle - 10-10-2011 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N8o3peQq79Q&feature=share&noredirect=1 Keith Olbermann Reads The Statement Released By The Wall Street Protesters - 2011-10-05 RE: Hilo Band Stand Oct 15 @ 2 pm Join the Movement - liskir - 10-10-2011 Ron Paul is the only REAL hope. RE: Hilo Band Stand Oct 15 @ 2 pm Join the Movement - missydog1 - 10-10-2011 I won't vote for Obama again, he's working for the oligarchy. I can't imagine ever voting for a Republican. I would gladly protest. I'm mad as hell. I think the only hope is people getting out and protesting like we did in the 60's. Otherwise we're all like sheep to be shorn. They screwed up. As long as the majority of people were doing all right they had it made. RE: Hilo Band Stand Oct 15 @ 2 pm Join the Movement - Rob Tucker - 10-11-2011 I just took a look at this topic and it is not meeting the criteria of Punaweb for keeping subjects Hawaii / Puna oriented. Either take it in that direction or I will have to retire the topic. Assume the best and ask questions.
