property insurance comparisons - Bullwinkle - 01-03-2012 http://hawaii.gov/dcca/home_rates link from the trib - compares island insurance property rates RE: property insurance comparisons - bystander - 01-04-2012 I'd like to know what everyone else is paying. My last premium was $780 which includes hurricane insurance. RE: property insurance comparisons - EightFingers - 01-04-2012 What area do you live in? It does make difference. RE: property insurance comparisons - bystander - 01-04-2012 Lower HPP. RE: property insurance comparisons - Lokahi - 01-04-2012 bystander......what coverage do you have for your $780? Our annual premium is $1188.56. This is an HO3 policy. Lava zone 2. 2007 frame constructed single family residence, owner occupied in protection class 5 with dwelling replacement cost. Coverage includes dwelling (290,748 limit), other structures (29,076 limit), personal property ($145,374 limit), loss of use (58,150 limit), personal liability (300,000 limit), medical payments (3,000 limit). The premium includes $883.72 for hurricane coverage with minimum 2% - $5815 deductible. $1000 non-hurricane deductible. Have had this coverage through UPCIC for three years and the premium has only raised $18.00 over that period. The premium compared to the chart is slightly higher but the chart doesn't provide coverage limits or deductibles or lava zone locations. Comparing insurance premiums is difficult as all policies and factors are not created or sold equally. Due diligence! Buyer beware. Hope this helps. RE: property insurance comparisons - Kapohocat - 01-04-2012 Mine is Lava Zone 2, with a real pool - not a catchment pool (increased liability), in Fema Flood Zone designation of AE I think. No hurricane ins. Same approx amt of dwelling coverage. Additional coverage as rental prop too. $1053/yr. Just switched agents in June as before it was $1600. RE: property insurance comparisons - grumpyscosmos - 01-07-2012 bystander that does not seem to be to high a price for coverage, especially including hurricane coverage... what company are you using? RE: property insurance comparisons - oink - 01-08-2012 I pay $4300 per year here in S. Fl. Pua`a S. FL Big Islander to be. RE: property insurance comparisons - missydog1 - 01-08-2012 I am paying about $550 for both policies included, but I live in zone 8. In Hilo, our rate was more like $1100, and I think that was not only the lava zone 3 but the single wall construction of a kama'aina home. The size of the home makes a big difference in the replacement cost, obviously. RE: property insurance comparisons - grumpyscosmos - 01-08-2012 quote: lived on sanibel is. fla. for 25yrs paid 1400 a yr, then in st augustine where they went down to 1200...I own my home but have built another one on property..So i need to have insurance to finance..I dont understand how the hurricane coverage is higher here than in Florida.. |
