Shipping large parcel to Hilo - Donivan - 01-20-2012 We need to ship a small piece of furniture (large parcel) to Hawaii from the San Francisco bay area. The parcel is about 160 linear inches, which is within UPS's size limits. They want about $500 to ship it (up to 130 pounds. In actuality probably 80-100 lbs max). Does anyone know or have direct experience with a shipper that would work for this? In the past I've used the post office for medium and some large items, but this is slightly outside their size range. Thanks in advance, Donivan http://www.foxyrocket.com/ RE: Shipping large parcel to Hilo - dlnragent - 01-20-2012 Try Hawaiian Airlines: http://www.hawaiianair.com/Cargo/Continental-US/ Their website shows 2.50/lb up to 99 lb, and 2.20/lb from 100-299lb. Or these guys: http://www.dhx.com/TraceProDhx/WhatWeOffer/AirFreight.aspx?12C878AF-3C94-4BC1-84DF-C0DF5E7D487E You have to call for a quote. RE: Shipping large parcel to Hilo - Rob Tucker - 01-20-2012 Fedex will ship for about $2 a pound. RE: Shipping large parcel to Hilo - Radiopeg - 01-21-2012 We shipped a large wooden crate from a local freight forwarder in WA. It was relatively affordable. Check out your local guys, too. Peace and long life RE: Shipping large parcel to Hilo - terracore - 01-21-2012 Call up these guys: http://www.northlandservices.com/destinations/hawaii.aspx Stategy is to UPS "ground" it to their Seattle address (C/O your address), then they barge it to the big island. You pick it up from them at the dock. |
