Knowing how humble he is, he probably would never post this, so here I go! Congratulations to John Dirgo on passing his brokers test with flying colors on the first try! (Only 13% of the brokers pass it on the first try.) Welcome to the club John!

Thanks for sharing this, John R., it's always enjoyable to help someone enjoy a personal or professional milestone. I have a question, though: What does it mean to pass "the brokers test"? Assuming this gives John D. a Brokers License, how does that translate to the types of real estate transactions?

And while I'm on THAT subject, John R., what does all the alphabet soup after your name mean? What do ABR,CM,CRB,FHS,PB stand for?

Just curious,
Brian

Kudos and coconuts to Dirgo.

Both of you are to be thanked for the invaluable information you offer here on Punaweb.

Keep it up.

Greg

You have to work minimum three years in full time real estate before you can take the course to be a Broker. You have to pass the Course Test in order to take the State of Hawaii test. Both are rigid tests. Once a Broker you can either remain a salesperson with a broker license and work under the supervison of a Principal Broker or get into management (become a Broker-In-Charge or a Principal Broker for a company.) You can also start your own company. The "alphabet soup"?! Six years of studying and about $50,000 out of pocket.
ABR: Accredited Buyer Representative (40,000 in the USA)
CM: Certified Manager
CRB: Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager (8,000 in the USA, it takes five years to earn this designation. It's the highest designation in real estate.)
FHS: Fine Homes Specialist
PB: Principal Broker
