Cost of a catchment tank cover - TomK - 01-28-2012

I found a tear in my catchment tank cover today and another about to start. I wondered if anyone knows the approximate cost of a replacement and might have a recommendation of the best place to go? It's an 8,000 gallon tank and I believe 18-foot diameter although I haven't gone out and measured it yet. The liner and tank are sound so it's just a new cover I'm after. As you can probably guess, it's not a steel cover I'm after and I can put the new cover on myself so am not after the cost of an installation.

Thanks in advance!

Have you check with Island Catchment in HPP, I know they have poly covers (friends got one from them), but have no idea on cost or if they have DIY:

Hi Carey,

I did do a bit of a search this evening and found one or two local companies, but didn't find a price hence the question. Thanks.

$175.00 for an 8000 gallon tank. But that was 4 years ago.

We purchased from the store in Pahoa (next to Ace Hardware) that sells propane, batteries, etc. They seem to keep the sizes in stock. If memory serves me, the cost was in the $200 range.

Last week I replaced my tank cover. I purchased a new cover from Island Catchment on 33rd in HPP. I have a very large tank - 12,000 gallons and my new cover cost $168.00. So far, pretty pleased with the cover's quality and stretchability.

Good luck!

You've hit a raw nerve. We paid $750 for a 10,000 gal. tank cover last year, which included building a humongous tent frame. The cover is oversized to cover both frame and tank. That's from Paradise Pools. Mike, who cleans our tank, says PP has the best covers. Still, way pricey, and we didn't know the labor part of the price until we got the bill.* I'd buy a cover from them again -- it's a really really nice, thick cover -- but I wouldn't have them build the frame. I think he said it would've been $250 just for the cover. ($250 cover, $250 frame, $250 labor) *Don't get me going. Glad to know about Island Catchment.

We replaced ours last year. Paid $270.82 for a 13,000 gal., approx. 25' diam. tank, from Paradise Pool.
