Please contact to friends and family in Ka'u and Puna!

URGENT- please DO THIS TODAY and help to get the 2% on the ballot!
To reconsider their votes they must file on Monday.

ASK COUNCIL MEMBERS NAEOLE-BEASON AND ENRIQUES TO RECONSIDER THEIR VOTES ON RESOLUTION 335.

Phone numbers: Naeole-Beeson 965-2712 / Enriques 961-8263

ASK THEM TO GET THE 2% ON THE BALLOT AND LET THE PEOPLE DECIDE.

Cut and paste the following email addresses:

<genriques@co.hawaii.hi.us>, <enaeole@co.hawaii.hi.us>,

Resolution 335 was introduced by Councilmember Yagong to make recommendations to the charter commission. If the County Council passes this resolution and the charter commission does NOT incorporate these recommendations into their charter amendment, we have been told by Charter Commission Attorney Levi Hookano and County clerk Kenny Goodenow that the terms of this resolution would THEN be placed on the ballot.

We would finally be given the chance to once again- LET THE PEOPLE DECIDE!

RESOLUTION 335 HAS THE FOLLOWING PROVISIONS:

Reinstate the 2% amount,
Include a clause that the fund cannot be used for maintenance
Provides that the lands could never be sold or transferred and should be help in perpetuity (forever and ever) for the use and enjoyment of the people of Hawaii County
Requires that the land fund shall be an interest bearing account
Four council members voted in favor of 335: Yagong, Ford, Greenwell and Hoffmann. MAHALO!

We need one more vote to send this to the charter commission and hopefully place this on the ballot.

PLEASE DO THIS NOW!!

WHY THE LAND FUND IS BENEFICIAL TO KA'U AND PUNA:

Both Council members Naeole -Beeson and Council member Enriques have much to gain if the Land Fund has more money.

PUNA- Naeole-Beeson is trying to have part of the Steam Vent property acquired with Open Space Funds. She also has other properties on the preferred list of the Open Space Commission: Cape Kumukai, Waile and Honolulu Landing.

KA'U- Council member Enriques District has been the greatest beneficiary of the 2% Funds with 2 properties at Kawa Bay having been acquired or soon to be acquired for a total of $5.8 million with $1.2 million in matching funds from the state Legacy Lands Fund. Punalu'u has been rated high on the Open Space Commission's list.

PLEASE do this TODAY! Call with questions or comments-

Mahalo!
