Pasha did a great job for us too. They trucked it from a drop off point interior to the west coast for us. Pasha also put it on an earlier westbound shipment than expected and communicated with us and our pickup person in Hilo. It was flawless.

Pasha was fine, EXCEPT they apparently put a sticker on the inside of the window and made a huge mess on the window where the sticker was ... You know the kind bits of paper and glue left behind from a crummy sticker. Anyways besides that the whole experience besides being expensive was a very easy process

Never underestimate the power of the dark side.

funny posts! thanks for the laughs

sell your shinny yuppy car before you come... and then adapt to the real Hawaii and buy a used truck when you get here
thats the only advise I can tell you....

this aint no boxstore infested Kailua-Kona.... Puna and its 100's of miles of world class crappy faukin azz 'roads' and extreme weather is a guaranteed (nice) car killa! .......unless all you godo drive to Target and Safeway 2X a week like most HPP kine permanent malihini mainlanders ... Wink

save our indigenous and endemic Hawaiian Plants... learn about them, grow them, and plant them on your property, ....instead of all that invasive non-native garbage I see in most yards... aloha

Seems to me most "real Hawaii" is about raised monster trucks and lowered rice rockets. That said I've noticed an affinity for obsesdively clean vehicles. I'm constantly impressed with how clean people's tires/rims/etc are ... Especially since there are so few car washes here - people here seem much more conscious about making there car look brand new and squeaky clean than any other place I've lived in the USA, also (some areas of puna excepted) it seems like over all on the island the majority of cars seem newish not beaters, but maybe all the rental cars skew this?

Never underestimate the power of the dark side.

We went with Cascade for shipping my car, not knowing all they were doing was reselling us Matson service. That said, we made plans to rent a car on both ends because it was the most stress free way we could deal with it. We rented a huge suv to stuff the animal crates in, and then turned it in for something more reasonable the next day. I can't imagine anyone expecting an exact time and day delivery for the same price as the cheapest shipping. Matson even advised us to get the car in their lot early, as they ship first come first served. Everything went well, and we are now contemplating shipping the truck over, almost two years later. We will call Pasha, Matson and the Kona Car guy when we get ready. I will advise a day before scouting trip to see where your vehicle is going. Seattle was a nightmare to figure out home to get to the yard. Luckily we spotted their little signs of helpful arrows. Construction having made the place a rats nest that seemed to change on a daily basis.

There are only three actual shipping companies between the West Coast and Hawai'i... Matson, Horizon, and Pasha. And they all have the same tariff. Anyone else is a broker who puts your car on one of those three companies' ships and adds another layer of complexity if their is a problem. .

Matson is the 800# gorilla of the Cali to Hawai'i route, and they basically invented the now ubiquitous ISO shipping container. Because of the way they queue their shipping, it can take as much as 3 weeks to get your car.

Horizon is #2. Smaller, not as good at customer service.

Pasha is the vehicle specialist, and has the best customer service. Runs a regular route that takes a week Cali to Hawai'i, and a week back. Bringing a second ship online later this year.
