Puna Men's Chorus at the Puna Music Festival 5/20
#1
I have long been a fan of the Puna Men's Chorus and had the opportunity to see and hear them once before I moved over, and once again shortly after I moved over. The first occasion was at the Akebono Theater when the chorus performed with some developmentally disabled entertainers. It was a truly inspiring evening in a venue that dripped last-outpost-at-the-end-of-the-world-character. When I stepped out into a torrent after the show and raced to my car, my heart was racing, too, from what I'd seen and heard. I was touched in a way I can't express here.

The second occasion was shortly after I moved over, less than 6 months ago. The chorus sang right in my neighborhood! And I reveled in the fact that, for me, an impossible dream had come true.

We will all have a chance to see and hear the chorus again on Sunday May 20th, at Pohoiki, shortly after noon. It is a free concert, and part of the Puna Music Festival -- an event worth supporting.

And I will have the best seat in the house: right on stage with the chorus and I don't have to sing a note! I am truly honored to be playing ukulele on one beautiful song and on an encore presentation of a tour-de-force musical number performed by a very talented Punawebber. Other longtime Punawebbers will also grace the stage.

The chorus is just part of what should be an amazing day, climaxing with one of my favorite performers, Paula Fuga.

Mahalo nui, PMC, for having me and making me feel so welcome.

I hope to see everyone there!
