Before you decide, check with the Fireplace and Home Center on Kam Ave, the owners have live in Volcano for years, very knowledgeable and helpful.[

I'm thinking about ordering a Four Dog camp stove. Which has baffle and airtight design of the EPA approved stoves at 1/3 the cost. OK maybe 1/2 if you add shipping. Plus comes in handy for elk hunting trip to Wyoming.

Awesome advice and tips, Punawebbers, Mahalo! I just had this link in our business inbox the other day. Interesting... Seems they have paired up with some yurt people too...

I remember in Maine we had the pink insulation that had the radiant barrier... I assume that's what it was, because it looked like tinfoil. But when I looked at Home Depot I didn't see any but the brown backing. Hmmm... They'd probably ship it in as a special order? Insulation first. And a dry firewood source... Pam? We will look at replacing or adding to the heat source after those steps are done.

For smaller stoves here is a really fun 15,000 btu unit .... I prefer 100,000 btu or better for home heating - needed almost 300,000 btu to heat my place built out of river rock (18" thick walls hold the cold - and heat once warmed up)
