Architects?
#11
For a simple house design (exterior elevations) my architect charged by using the sq. footage of the house and (lanai if occurs) x $2.25 a square foot. Included with the plans was his licensed Architect's stamp (required) on the plans, along with providing the (2) sets of plans for submittal to the county and having him submit the plans to the county of Hawaii building dept.

Also the engineer for septic design and permiting. I used charged $850 (2 bed 2 bath) includes design, application fee ($100), and inspection of septic installation. An inspection report must be filed and approved by DOH in order to receive final building inspection.

1700sf x 2.25 = $3,825 depends on complexity of your plan I would guess

I can't recommend him personally, as I haven't used his services, but Craig Steely has designed a few really cool homes in Lower Puna (Palisades) that are modern and quirky. Featured in Dwell, if that's your style. I love these homes, but I am also very partial to the 1970's Big Sur style handmade redwood and cedar homes...there is a few in Puna that I adore, but the builder has long since moved...the day we can find the designer/builder that shares that style on the island, I will be a happy lady.

Anyway. Craig Steely. Modern homes - check his work out.
