Pumice Crete
#1
Has anyone experience with pumice-crete?

I will be experimenting with it for a garden wall.( non load bearing) My first batch was 10 to one cinder to cement with fiber added. Turned out crumbly but seems stable enough to stucco the surface to make a wall. It was easy to get too much water using cinder vs aggregate in regular concrete.

I estimate a cost of apx $60.00 for a wall section 4 ft by 10 ft 8" thick not including the stucco finish. This is a bit less than half of a CMU wall

Cinder is not pumice.
Assume the best and ask questions.

Can I change the title to "Cinder-Crete" If it works for my purpose I will be happy with it.

Do we have pumice in any quantity here?

No pumice in Hawaii to my knowledge.

Good luck with your cinder-crete. Lots of people have tried to use cinder in concrete.
Fact is that cinder is a lousy aggregate. Very fragile material. Almost zero strength to it.
Cinder has been used for "light weight" concrete in some situations as it is lighter than stone.
Assume the best and ask questions.

Volcanic cinder is not like coal cinder. I don't know of any use that makes economic sense in concrete even if you get it for free

I've used it for a small stoop. It wears down quickly.
