There are regions worldwide that are "uberizing" several services into one with the freelancers. Especially with COVID.
For example, in one country there are contracted private security or guard services the respond to alarm calls or similar calls requiring a guard response. Licensed guards who are independent contractors that may work for several companies. They may also do rides for Uber, Lyft, and delivery services concurrently.
There are also third-party package delivery services that supplement UPS, FedEx, DHL, etc that are pretty widespread within the US or world for that matter.
Technology is the key from a logistics standpoint and solutions exist that cover the particular concerns mentioned here and many others not discussed. You may PM me if you ever get to the technology phase.
