Safeway Superstore in Kona
#11
I was wondering what the backstory of that place was. Now it makes sense.

I understand the bit about the weather on the East side, considering that our only two seasons are the rainy season and the hurricane season, but everything that resembles Hawaii is on the East side of the island. And we have the waterfalls, the volcano, the things that people want to see, etc. Kona actually has very few beaches better than what's on the East side. Hapuna is nice but it's miniscule and usually always "full".

When people ask me the best way to see the island I usually tell them to split their time between the east and west sides, rather than picking a side and spending a bunch of time commuting. And if they want to see beaches, add an excursion to Maui. If they want nightlife, add an excursion to Honolulu. Either is easy to do by using either destination as the gateway in or out of the state.
