Water pump and power surge

Incredibly durable, high pressure, high volume and no surge to start. I used one for my home when the power went out for two weeks last year. It allowed us to get by with a small generator for the rest of the house. Those 110 volt pumps take a huge amount of power to start.

You should avoid those Home Depot pumps entirely. They don't last. If you want an AC pump, go to Sears and get a Simer pump. Very good quality for about $300 for 3/4 hp.

If the system worked previously and this is a new problem, check the capacitor on the motor.

Thanks to you both. I originally had a 24 volt pump setup but changed it out after building too much house for it to handle (four stories if you count the loft). Yes, this has only recently become a thing, so I will have the capacitor checked. I just left the island to prepare for teaching here on the mainland so will need to get a local person experienced in making that check and possible replacement.
