Petition to council re: building department

Due to rather outrageous delays and cost increases in processing permits at the building department there is a petition circulating which I have offered to share with Punaweb members. I would recommend as many people as possible sign it. As the building department is operating affodable housing will soon become extinct... like California housing will be a rich man's game. The county is now requiring engineering calcs on all single story housing. Expensive and time consuming.

You can print it your self and gather as many signatures as you can. Deadline is November 15th. Contact me by email and I will tell you where to send or deliver the petition.

This is the petition language.

To whom it may concern, we residents and landowners of the County of Hawaii are very concerned about the ongoing policies of the Hawaii County Building Division. Because of apparent abuse of power we ask the Hawaii County Council take action as soon as possible.
We hereby petition the County Council to amend the adopted Building Code as follows:

"All privately owned single family residences shall be exempt from structural review for a building permit as long as drawings are signed and sealed by a Hawaii licensed architect or structural engineer.Such amendment to stay active with adoption of subsequent building codes unless specifically deleted by the County Council."
