There are only a few active frogs out this morning in mid-hpp, unlike the usual cacophony. Could this mean our recent showers are more acidic?

They used to shut-up before earthquakes.
There's been so many quakes lately I wasn't sure if they were chirping through it or zipping their lips because of continual movement?

The acid raid could sure do a number on them though.
I think citric acid was sold as a coquicide in the past. SO2 just another type of acid, might be working on them.

hi JG, I think all the coquis moved to my carport here in Orchidland.... it's a symphony till the birds take over in the am.

Is ash in any way equivalent to diatomaceous earth?

Interesting question. Volcanic ash is very sharp- scratches glass. I wonder how the snails and slugs would fare in it. Maybe okay when wet, not so well when dry?

I found an article claiming wood ash will stop snails. I think an even dusting of volcanic ash would indeed cause coqui populations to drop.
