No problem, it was just so weird to have someone think it was your own post and congratulate you on it and not the OP.

Actually, terracore, your interpretation, and yes you bastardized the amendment to the point as to impose your interpretation over the actual wording of the amendment, which is..

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

And, considering it's only one sentence, your omission of the entire first half, which obviously is a qualifier, ie a limiting factor over the second half, is all we need to understand you're not playing fair here. In other words, you're twisting the facts to support your narrative.. which doesn't help your cause at all. It just paints you as bias..

ETA, and just to wet your whistle, in my interpretation of the amendment that first half, the part you obviously don't like, means we, by having national guard organizations in each state, fulfill the need for a "well regulated Militia" and as such render the entire amendment moot. But then.. that's my biased interpretation..

Our founding fathers overthrew a government that wanted to keep them from having guns and fighting back.

OK.
Hypothetical Puna-centric or Hawaii Island wide question.

Gun permits are given out to everyone who wants one.  The County government becomes so unbearable, so intolerable that Big Island gun owners decide to fight back as the 2nd Amendment allows, and overthrow the mayor, county council, and all government workers.  Clandestine meetings are held somewhere in deep jungle, far back in the Acres and a plan is put forward, a plan that of course not everyone agrees with, so they disperse and decide to attack on their own personal terms.  FREEDOM!

The mayor and DMV see a crowd, or rather individual crowds gathering in the parking lot, milling about, but with weapons drawn.

What happens?  The Disorganized Militia thinks they can fight the tyrannical powers that be by taking a few captives and occupy the seat of government, then install themselves as Don't Tread On Me libertarian rulers of Hawaii Island.

What I think would really happen is someone at the County picks up a phone and calls the well regulated police, the well regulated Army at Pohakuloa, the Civil Air, National Guard at the airport equipped with Apache Helicopters.  And that will be a decisive and hasty end to the ragtag gun tottin' beer guzzlin' insurectionists.  Can some guy hiding in the underbrush with his pee shooter take out an Apache, armed with machine guns, and if that doesn't hit the mark, a not even well aimed missile?  Because close counts.

Does anyone here think Hawaii Island citizerns with a few guns can out shoot the trained and armed militia stationed on island?  And citizens fighting back against our government is a good reason gun permits should be handed out like trophys for all who participate at a walk-run event, for almost everyone who shows up?

Doesn't sound like they will be issuing permits to everyone.

Interesting that you have to own a registered gun before you can get a permit to carry one.

Hmm, is the registration what we all already did when bringing firearms onto the island? I wonder if they still have that on file......
