In my opinion, Kaiser is the best deal for me for the last 5 years. After my research, it's the best value for my money. I'm not totally happy w/ my PCP, but when I go to CA, I go to Kaiser there & am covered for excellent medical care. I'm pretty broke, but am getting full care for the same price I was paying in FL for catastrophic only.

I was happy with Kaiser for the most part. Rarely had trouble getting an appointment and had the same doctor looking over my health care. The only downside was I had to dive to Hilo where they had very nice facilities.
Assume the best and ask questions.

Kaiser Primary Care here has kind of "CLEANED HOUSE' and there are now a slew of new providers in primary care. There is also another on his way; just waiting for the great state of Hawaii to grant him privileges. Although they do not provide extensive services here on island, they do pay for flying you to Honolulu for appointments at their large, full service clinic and hospital. Primary care appointments are not bad. If the woman taking appointments gives you a hard time or doesn't get you in to see a physician in a reasonable time, just show up and "demand politely" to be seen; they have to see you. That is insider information so...... I didn't write this!

Have had both kaiser & HMSA.... I liked my Kaiser Dr. (a diver), but she moved on & insurance switched to HMSA only policy... so I have HMSA. have a non-diving Dr. which is OK, but....

HMSA is the insurer that many or most employers provide as part of the requirement to make insurance available. It insures about half the state, and is affiliated with Blue Cross/Blue Shield.

HMSA does not cover medications on individual plans, Kaiser does for a little more money.
