On Friday 9/16, Mexican Independence Day, you can celebrate by dancing your socks off to the Puerto Rican rhythms of El Leo- The Jarican Express, and at the same time help to support the Puna Community Medical Center. The event starts at 6:30 pm at the HPP activity center on 17th and Maku'u. Ticket are $15 advance or $20 at the door; advance tickets are on sale at the PCMC urgent care clinic and the Puna Pharmacy in the Pahoa Marketplace, at Pooki's Bake Shop and Deli on Hwy 130 just Kea'au side of the new Pahoa fire station, and at Pahoa Puna Buy & Sell. Tickets for groups of 5+ can also be purchased through me at 965-2000.
As is usual for PCMC fundraisers, there will be a raffle featuring clusters of related items, such as gift certificates to local restaurants, a collection of black-foliaged plants, 2 collections of vireya rhododendrons, a grouping of automotive items, and lots more.
Refreshments will also be available, of course, including gourmet cookies by Teena Barry.
PCMC is now seeing almost 500 patients a month and is nearing the 12,000th patient mark. Expansion of services (24/7 ER with lab and x-ray) is in the works, and funds are needed to start the process. Come help and have fun too.
aloha and malama pono,
Rene
