Pahoa Rubbish and Recycle Man...
#1
Okay, so I got to the recycle place and see tons of things up on a few shelves behind where the man sits at his desk. There's this really cool gargoyle that I want to give Tony for his birthday...so I ask him "how much is the gargoyle?" He tells me that none of that stuff behind him is for sale. It's all just a display.

Hmmm. Obviously it was a collection of fun chachkas that people had given to the recycle place but he says he will not sell anything up there.

This was a few weeks ago now.

So yesterday I go to the recycle place and spend some change from my jar on a few ladies blouses, etc. I noticed that ALL of the hundreds of things behind the man on the shelf are GONE. I asked him where they all went and he told me they had all been sold...that he put them out and they were snapped up quick. (Okay ALL OF THAT STUFF and not ONE thing anywhere else in the recycle place????)

So last night I told Tony that all that stuff was gone when I went to the recycle today. He tells me that he went there to buy that gargoyle I mentioned a couple of weeks ago for MY birthday. The man told him the same thing - NONE of that stuff was for sale. So Tony tells him that he will not be donating anymore to the recycle place.

Methinks the recycle guy has a REALLY cluttered home right now. Ha ha!!!

Thats why I could not work there - soon my place would be all filled up with "rescues" and "treasures" - its hard enough to not take more home than I bring in on trash day - grin

I wasn't aware it was okay to just keep whatever you like if you work there. Interesting.

every occupation seems to have its perks. Explained to me as "road kill" or in the marine industry that I work in "harbor kill" (some of that may have washed up lately on island - a big yellow tank - how cool is that.....)

in this case "dump kill" may be the concept.- grin

Of course they are going to keep the good stuff.
It's run by a charity and they may know of a person who needs a specific item.
Those items would not be for sale.

Hmm. I don't know how their system works but it would make more sense to me if they sold the goods and donated the money for the needy. I mean, how many people NEED a gargoyle?

Yah, or a lucky gold kitty bank? C'mon...it's pretty obvious what happened here. Too bad they cannot see that they could make more money for the needy if they didn't pilfer the donations, but hey - that's just my opinion. [Wink]
