Aloha,
We have stayed in Puna, (KAPOHO) previously and are on our way back again next month. Can anyone recommend a good breakfast take out restaurant for us? Last time we were there the L&M didn't open for breakfast.

Take for breakfast-type foods (eggs, toast, pancakes...) or for pack a picnic in the morning foods?
In Kaimu (southwest of Kapoho) is the Kaimu Cafe...(the old Vernas) in Kaimu/Kalapana....awesome fish & eggs, good pancakes & can fit either option above...even a nice outdoor cafe to sit a spell at...
In Pahoa, the Black Rock will do take out or sit down breakfasts, in the Marketplace Subway has takeout breakfast sandwiches, & the fish market usually has something...

I'll second on the Kalapana Village Cafe...Formerly Verna's, in Kalapana. The pancakes are the best I've eaten on the Island, so far. Sometimes, they'll have special omelets that are super good!
I will pile on for kalapana village cafe, great burgers for lunch too. my fav.

Kalapana village cafe is also some of the most expensive food you could buy for what your getting. Three cheers for puna development lol
Never underestimate the power of the dark side.
I happen to be in Los Angeles at the moment, but the thought of having the Ham and Cheese omelet at Kalapana Village Cafe almost had me on a plane back!
Unfortunately the direct LAX to ITO flight is so late at night!
