Try growing the little ones. We get the ones we like at Farmer's Market, and toss them around the yard. It's amazing how many come up

We had a crop decimated by black mold just as they were starting to redden. Moist leaves seems to be the culprit. We erected a roof of plastic sheeting (lasts a year or two) which kept the rain off the plants. Got a good harvest of several vrieties. My tomato sensei also recommended a diluted spray of Soap, Baking soda and Volck oil as a mold preventative.
