Went to pick up some friends coming in and got into a very long line at the little toll booth where you pay for parking. The line moved really slow! I don't know why, but it was taking about five minutes per car for them to pay. I had to wait in line for 18 minutes. To add to the misery, it cost me an extra $2 in parking fees just for me to wait in line. [V]
I'm hoping this was just a glitch, because I have to go back Thursday!

How come they don't have a ticket gate entry where you pay as you leave. Duh!

They do, it was just as slow....people would drive up, try it, then back up to get in the other line. It had to be something wasn't working right. I would think they'd just let everyone through until it was fixed. It's not like they'd be losing that much money.

Exactly this -- Hilo isn't a real airport, or else we would have a light rail that didn't stop there.

It was probably airline and airport employees paying their monthly parking fee.They don't have an office where you can pay and it has to be done at the toll booth once a month on the first.

My bad, never flown out of there recently, as I now try to avoid United. A shame, as my Dad flew for them for 32 years before their "restructuring".

Not sure why all the grumbling about the Hilo airport public parking paying system at work? The parking lot upkeep, improvements, security, and new Organic famers market over the last few years has really been refreshing to see, (joking). Bright side is you are no longer required to have the correct amount of CHANGE to get through the gates.
