Forced vaccinations
#81
No one knows exactly how many people died during the 1918-1919 influenza pandemic. During the 1920s, researchers estimated that 21.5 million people died as a result of the 1918-1919 pandemic. More recent estimates have estimated global mortality from the 1918-1919 pandemic at anywhere between 30 and 50 million. An estimated 675,000 Americans were among the dead.

If everyone were to quit getting flu shots we could probably slow down global warming.

PaulW: If you want to push your anti-vaccine agenda, you'd best not mention polio!

Do you even read my posts? Your one-trick pony responses get old fast, and add support to the idea that folks on both sides of the issue are rigid.

I am sure you won't agree, but the link I shared before shows that a huge decline in polio started well before the introduction of the vaccine...there are plenty other polio onset graphs that show the same. The decline continued after the introduction of the vaccine and is attributed to the vaccine. Contrasted with no-vaccine typhoid whose decline is very similar. I find that interesting. (Now you have _me_ repeating myself Wink)

Or would you rather just make vague unsupported insinuations?

I guess so. <sigh>

You're getting old fast too, thanks to vaccines. They saved millions of people, most likely including someone you care about.
Keep making vague insinuations, not backed up by anything, while vaccines keep doing their good work.

Those are great graphs. I don't know how you can conclude that polio was declining before the vaccine wiped it out.
Must be my pro-science bias.

It would instantly become your business if polio made a come-back in the USA or if typhoid, diphtheria, and whooping cough became endemic again. As mentioned by several others, herd immunity protects those too frail to be vaccinated who have no choice in the matter.

So you are saying one party is more important than the other to the point of forcing a medical procedure on the less important party? A procedure they fear may make them sick?

death by measles....
...2,600,000 deaths in 1980
.....545,000 deaths in 1990
......96,000 deaths in 2013

"Check this out. The bill I was talking about was killed. The propaganda worked."

A slightly more readable version is here:

http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/story/31145...ted-debate

It starts with this:

"HONOLULU (AP) - After listening to Hawaii residents speak out against vaccines saying they cause everything from autism to the Zika virus, Hawaii lawmakers killed a bill to speed up the state's process for adopting federal vaccination guidelines."

I just hope that details are missing and this is not why the bill got shot down.

Not a big deal really. Just as it is now, the state DoH is still able to adopt the ACIP recommendations, but isn't bound to a timeframe. More of a states' rights issue than a medical one, IMHO.

Of course fighting the bill because you believe it'll lead to forced vaccinations and Zika infections is pretty daft, but no more so than believing the seasonal flu shot is preventing a Spanish flu pandemic, or that being "pro-science" absolves the need for critical thought or discussion.

Seems to be much easier to choose a side and simply reject any new ideas that may contradict or threaten your position - beliefs with "herd immunity" protection.

It was refreshing to see 007 actually reconsider previously held views - what a rarity, especially online.
