Gypsy, I get it, you dislike anyone who won't participate in your anti-GMO hysteria. You'd be against Richard Ha running for dogcatcher.
But as a result of that to cast doubt on the intelligence of everyone who grew up here, even those that graduated college, that's going too far, even for your usual standards of "jmo" gibberish.

With due respect to all, I support Richard Ha in this endeavor. He is a man of honor, his family has deep roots in Puna (not that it matters to some), and Mr. Ha stands on his own volition. Our ohana crossed paths many, many decades ago, and today, he is of his Kupuna. FWIW.
It could be a lot worse, given the circumstances and conditions of the application. The variables involved in this effort are challenging, and hopefully, the first wave of awardees will set the pace for a positive future.
I wish his team well.
JMO.

Here is a thought,
If you don't like the distributor, don't buy their product?

Aloha mai, Kenny! Very kind of you. I enjoy looking through my rose colored glasses at times...[:I] Hope all is well!
On the news this morning, KHNL, one of the licensees was interviewed (sorry, can't find the video of the report). It was interesting, and their plan is to open by "the end of the year" in Oahu. If the video comes up, I'll post it.
Have a lovely day, all.

If most pot smokers are anti-GMO, it wasn't too bright to appoint a pro-GMO guy for a dispensary permit. This will create a good deal of chaos.

As Mr. Ha has stated many times, he has not grown GMO products, but respects the rights of farmers to be able to do so.

Why focus on one dispensary. Get our elected officials to do for Puna what Desert Hot Springs did in California. It's in a forgotten piece of god forsaken desert. But after government officials changed the law:
... a real estate agent came to him offering half a million dollars for 5 acres of undeveloped, brush-pocked desert — five times what he'd paid for the land six months earlier.
"I thought he was joking," Bravo said.
A few days after he had signed the paperwork, Bravo said, another man offered him $1 million.
(Desert Hot Springs is) the first city in Southern California to legalize large-scale medical marijuana cultivation, Desert Hot Springs has been inundated by marijuana growers and developers...

Of course, you would be asking our representatives to relax their tight grip over how marijuana is controlled (by them) and allow the average citizen to benefit. It would certainly put Puna back on the map.

"If most pot smokers are anti-GMO...""
Who says they are?
Anyway, the idea here isn't to make pot smokers happy but to take money away from criminals and give it to the government instead.
For this to run smoothly you need rational people, not people against scientific progress because they don't understand it.

@ ericlp...well, they still gotta pony up 75,000 to get the permit. I thought the application fee of 5K
any idea what the fees associated with the permitting of a full blown drug store are? say a Longs Drug as an example...thanks
