Cesspools are banned? Cost of a septic system?
#31
Interesting... I had never heard that, then again, I have seen that it doesn't make financial sense in the long run, with current laws, to do a composting toilet. I never trust sentences that start with, "I know a guy..." Wink Seriously, folks. This island is so rampant with misinformation. The real info is a phone call to a primary source away.

I know a guy that went to the county to permit a composting toilet + grey water system, they said he still needed a septic system for the "black water" from his kitchen sink. All other sinks/laundry were considered grey, but not the kitchen. Something to do with meat preparation, which was funny because he is a vegan. Smile

I believe the catchphrase with the Building Department, or the Health Department is that he may be a vegan, but he could sell his house later to somebody that is not. Also to consider on that note, he may be building a one bedroom, but he could sell it to somebody who wants to add on a few bedrooms, therefore, they may require a minimum size septic system.
