Car used in Fern Forest burglary
#1
Posting this to alert the Big Island community to look for this Subaru Forester which was stolen and later used in a destructive burglary on Uluhemalu Rd. in Fern Forest on Saturday 7/15/17. The plates (ZCE 966) are apparently not the original owner's, but are from an abandoned vehicle. They may still be on the Subaru. The front bumper was stripped off when the burglars rammed the car into a Fern Forest resident's auto (twice) which was used to block the drive at the victim's residence in an attempt to trap the Subaru. They were able to escape, causing significant damage to both cars in the process. If you see this Subaru, alert the police at 911, do not approach or confront any occupants. They are apparently a couple (male and female) and show little regard for the safety of anyone who may attempt to thwart their criminal behavior. Photos of the Subaru are here on Craigslist, hopefully they'll remain on the site for everyone to check out:

Police called a witness at the burglary/vehicular assault in hopes the suspect could be identified. Not sure if the wahine involved was also apprehended or identified. A double-cylinder (key both sides) deadbolt made it difficult for them to exit the residence with anything substantial, but they did significant damage to the house (broke a window to enter and attempted to dig out the deadbolt from the inside to remove the door) and also serious damage to the vehicle that was used to block the drive while the burglary was in progress.
