Mermaid, I applaud your dedication to our Community, however I have to ask, what makes you think our votes will make any difference?
A unanimous vote for a Forensic Audit and vote to do “trial road” before Chip sealing were ignored , as were many other of our votes. I honestly don’t know why they even bother counting votes by the Membership or having Membership Meetings at all!
Now with the newly( BOD Majority) appointed President, who disregards Membership votes, I have little hope for change.
The one ray of light I still see is the Minority BOD of honest Representatives. At least someone understands what “Represent” means.

Kenney, there will be a new approach this time. Please attend the meeting. Your vote WILL COUNT. There will be VERY important items to vote on.

The problem is obviously that people just aren't voting hard enough, unlike those other voters who managed to get a Park Master Plan approved.

Good point Kalakoa.
I’ll try voting “harder” this time.

Kenney, I totally understand what you are saying. Many members are apathetic, would rather stay home and watch football or are glued to electronics. Some gave it a try for a bit then just walked away, some have even come around from the other side realizing what a crock it all is and have regrets for getting sucked in but would rather not admit it many do not understand the depth of the corruption here and so instead of trying they just say they are apolitical(whatever that impossible word is). Thing is, there must be a few more members out there who care like I do but can not attend the meetings due to serious obligations. I don't have a chance anymore for my voice to be heard so I count on people like you to speak and vote for me. Please give it 1 more shot. The only solution should seem obvious to all.

Yes, please go to the meeting and vote. We don’t live there (yet), and I’m pretty sure a “mailed in” vote is going to be totally disregarded. Especially since it seems like they barely pay attention to people that are present and voting.

(You have my permission to post this on social media, Lori Laucik.)
With Lori Laucik's (former Dist 5 board director) permission, I am posting her board resignation at her request:
"To all Board Members,
It is with mixed emotions that I send this letter resigning from the District 5 Director position for HPPOA. When I ran and was elected to this position it was with the intention of serving my three year term and for HPP to be my retirement home forever. Due to my husbands health issues we have found ourselves in a position to make changes to our retirement dreams and return to the mainland.
My plan was to resign after the membership meeting on February 25th since my escrow will close March 3rd. Unfortunately my confidentiality was breeched by the HPPOA Vice President and at least one staff member with the transfer paperwork the office received. I feel it is best to resign now so that there will hopefully be no further breech in my confidentiality."
Lori Laucik,
District 5

This is Lori Laucik's letter to HPP members:
"When I decided to run for the board many people told me I was nuts, my response was that I felt I could make a difference for the membership that has felt as disrespected as the roads that have been neglected. It has been a pleasure getting to know people in the community and I am grateful for all of the support I have had from the membership while I tried to shine a light on the total disregard the majority of board members have for the bylaws and the membership as a whole.
Board members are elected or appointed to serve the membership (which is the association) not to rule over the membership. The majority of this board does not get this and their votes are in contrast with the oath they took and their fiduciary responsibilities.
It is my hope that the membership sees that these board members are doing everything possible, (including using members road fee monies on attorneys) to keep the Finance Committee, that is elected by the membership to keep eyes on the finances, from having access to the associations finances.
The General Manager and the Staff have no oversight because previous boards have given the GM total power over duties that the bylaws require board authority. This has put the entire association at risk. These board members count on the complacency of the membership so that they can continue to break bylaws and keep the finances hidden.
All it takes is a majority of board members that want a member driven association that is treated with respect, and roads maintained at all times and improved as finances allow. If this is your vision and you live in district 2,3,4,5, or 6 put in your application before March 16th to run for the board seat and help create a board that can be respected by the membership.
Thank you all again for allowing me to be a small part of changing the way the board does business.
I will see you at the membership meeting."

Lori’s letter is as clear an explanation of what’s going on in HPP as any I’ve ever read.
IMO, she’s the best BOD President we’ve ever had. Sincere thanks to her for her efforts.

100% agree Kenney.
Lori Laucik has taken quite a beating from her peers and members who support the board. They all don't like, know or understand what transparency is. AND many of them even after 3 yrs on the board are clueless when it comes to the bylaws.
P Murdoch and C Crelly tried to pull a fast one thinking they could use Robert's Rules to rescue them from the blunder they created, when they deposed 2 officers w/out installing replacements at the same meeting. They thought they could bypass the bylaws. Our bylaws state that officers serve until their successors are installed - very clear and straightforward. Bylaws trump Robert's Rules IF the situation is addressed in the bylaws. In the end our bylaws won the day because of Dist9 D Roe, Dist7 L Blyth and former Dist5 L Laucik's knowledge of the bylaws.
Get ready for the shades to be drawn. Dist3 Crelly and president (again) has already stated his mantra, "The board makes all the decisions." His other one is this "The membership doesn't matter, the board can do whatever they want."
At the last board meeting during owner input I asked C Crelly...1) Now that you're on the board and president again, what are you going to do about the failing chip seal roads? 2) When are you going to rescind the illegal authority you gave the GM to hire/fire w/out board vote? I told him he didn't have to get a majority vote to rescind the document because it's automatically null and void since it's adverse to our bylaws. All he has to do is get it on record at a board meeting that they have rescinded the illegal document signed by Craig Crelly when he was president during 2016. I requested a reply to my questions at the next board meeting.
C Crelly was in full form telling board members, "don't answer that" and telling the peanut gallery to keep it down. Not long ago he was sitting in the peanut gallery and told me to shut up after he got through yelling at the former president. This guy is our president again.
