KeaauRich,
Actually, proxies were first introduced November 22, 2014, by Richard Greever, a supporter of Barbara Arthurs. Bob Arthurs was OLCA President at that time. Barbra Arthurs was the one to motion to accept proxies as the law does allow it. (See page3, paragraph 2 of the minutes posted here:
http://www.orchidland.org/pdf/minutes/Ge...PROVED.pdf). With the exception of Stoner & Greene, the Board at that time consisted of all members of “Arthurs Group”.
The proxy issue is just what I term as another inconvenient truth the “Arthurs Group” likes to spin. Ignore the facts, beat the drum on their agenda, and then let other misinformed persons spread the rumors.
I agree we don’t all have to agree, but it would be nice if we could all form our opinions based upon verified facts.

Why is Wirick being thoroughly discussed in the Jen Ruggles topic?
Assume the best and ask questions.

Because Wirick is one of the two remaining candidates for District 5 and KeaauRich has raised a few rumors as facts. I'm just setting the record straight.

Maybe there should be a topic called "Wirick".....

Aw, gee, Dad, we were just trying to save time. It isn't every day a guy graduates from high school.

I live in Orchidland too... I’ve spoken at great length personally with highly invested folks on both sides. KeaauRich doesn’t need for me to come to his defense, but I’m gonna anyway. Clearly you’re a Wirick fan. We get that. Live long and prosper, and may the force be with you... but let’s avoid casting KeaauRich as a purveyor of rumor, okay please? He has consistently tried to be fair whenever he engages in any topic of discussion on this forum and this topic is something he knows a great deal about... he’s typically one of those 20 people who show up at OCLA meetings. He cares. And he cares about fairness. Like a gentleman he offered to publicly "agree to disagree"... Stop smearing him.
No matter how you slice it, proxy voting is slimy and the way the Wirick board handled themselves made them seem slimy too. And I’m sorry, your argument that it’s legal is a cold fish. Denying gay men a wedding cake in this country is (apparently) legal too (now), but that doesn’t make it right. Using proxies the way they did is a stink that won’t wash off I’m afraid. I won’t be voting for Wirick either, primarily because his group engaged in proxy voting to get their way.
Denounce it publicly and rollback every vote that was decided with proxies involved and then (and only then) will I give Wirick the time of day.
Meanwhile, I plan on voting for Jen... (see Rob, I brought it back to Jen. Don’t be mad!)

You can vote for Jen if you wish out of principle, but be forewarned that all votes for her will be discarded. Matt Kanealii-Kleinfelder is the clean choice.

Topic updated, go nuts. Would really like to know more about these new candidates, particularly their voting records if any on Puna issues.

As a longtime Orchidland resident, I feel that both KeaauRich and DaVinci are closer to the truth of the situation regarding Wirick than Carol10.
KeaauRich: Many of the Board's actions during his ( Wirick ) tenure have been extremely controversial and potentially unethical (as has been documented in numerous Punaweb threads and ongoing court case).

Several things concerning roads ( a Puna issue that transcends any particular subdivision ) that happened while Wirick was on the OLE board:
- Ilima had been prepped for pavement using association funds as that was the next project on the membership's voted-on schedule. That project was abruptly abandoned, the prep work allowed to
deteriorate, and instead, those monies were used to extend the pavement on 40th to just beyond the house of a member of the board of directors.
- A non-licensed contractor was paid a large sum of money to chipseal several of the main roads. Due to the poor quality of the work, the chip seal on Aulii lasted less than 48 hours before rains washed it
away. Because the contractor was unlicensed but paid ahead of time, there was no recourse.
Ruggles would have been my first choice. As someone who has seen Wirick operate, I will be donating to Matt K-K's campaign.

That's called "standard operating procedure".

Too bad the subdivisions don't work together, someone might have learned something.
