I am glad to hear people are able to get through 10 and C ok. Thank you! I had heard the concrete was placed with rebar drilled into the underlaying rock. Residents must have made sure its not puncturing tires.
I hope to be living on my land near there someday.

It was once against the law for slaves to run away from their masters.

Forcing someone to go into wage slavery for decades simply to have a home is unjust. I won't fault anyone for building a home they can afford on land they own. If you are concerned about property values, please buy in a nice neighborhood with CC&RS and leave the rest of us alone.

Just to be clear:
there is concrete on 10&C and also concrete on 9&C both areas are just fine and have been that way for years no problems. No Rebar exposed.

Just nearby the corner of 10&C someone thought it would be smart to put asphalt down there. I'm guessing it was sometime after the epic 2001 flood.
It has stayed ever since because nothing was as great as that 2001 flood until now. This one was too much and asphalt got undermined and cracked all over.

Concrete and Rebar = good for HA road flooding repair
blacktop and asphalt = not as good

Would you say that to a family that can't afford to pay rent or a mortgage? Even if it meant they would be homeless? I know a few such families that live in HA, and I'm sure there are many more. They started in tents, and now have roofs over their heads. Community members helped them with building materials and safe construction techniques.

CC&Rs often indicate nosey neighbors concerned about property values. If you're building unpermitted you don't want to live next to such people. I think it's great that people can choose to live in an area that suits them, instead of trying to force their standards on others.

randomq, This is not a perfect country and the vast majority of humanity on this planet are living in challenging conditions. However the USA with it's minimum wages is still considered to offer the most opportunity and fairness. You are comparing America to utopia, try compare it to say, China for a more realistic mindset.

And people have choices, such as educating themselves before having children.

Talk about utopian ideals - as if changing laws were a matter of simple petition. Pardon me sir, I'd like a little more justice and equality. Strange that this hasn't worked for Native Americans, the continental colonies, black slaves, poor immigrants, child laborers, disenfranchised women, or the LGBTQ community (to name just a few).

In so much as these families are not harming you, what do you care how they live? Perhaps your concern extends to donating some time, money, or supplies to improve their situation to your standards?
