"Bring your own automotive fluids, chemicals and poisons and other hazardous household wastes to the Francis Wong Baseball Stadium Parking Lot collection area (on Manono Street) on August 3rd, 2019. Business, farm, non-profit or government agency waste are NOT allowed by law. Electronic waste (e-waste) and latex paint is also NOT allowed. Please enter the Ho‘olulu Complex area on Manono St. and drive east towards the Francis Wong Baseball Stadium, past the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium. Collection Event will be held in parking lot between Francis Wong Baseball Stadium and Aunty Sally Kaleohano's Lu‘au Hale. Follow signage and security guards.
There will be no concurrent collection event for reusable latex (water-based) paints held nearby. Reusable latex paint is collected year-round at the Hilo Reuse Center at the Hilo Recycling & Transfer Station, please call 498-7916. If your latex paint is junk/unusable solidify it and dispose with your regular rubbish.
Customers should pack their items in spill-proof containers and be careful when transporting them to the event. When at the event please remain in your vehicle in line until authorized personnel come to unload your vehicle. For your safety and the safety of those around you please do not walk your hazardous materials over to the authorized personnel in the restricted area, this precaution is to prevent accidents, prevent spillage and ensure fairness to those already waiting in line. Do not drop off materials during non-event times as that is illegal dumping and violators will be prosecuted. Mahalo for your k#333;kua."
