ironyak, like I said before we know so little about this outbreak, when any source comes across authoritatively dismissing others doing research I consider that suspect with a possible agenda. How do I choose news sources? That's a real good question. I suppose we all make our own deductions and choices from our own experiences and knowledge. In this crisis I'm interested in the opinions and research of competent epidemiologists. And I have little to no confidence in mainstream media. China has not disclosed what they know so I'm leaning towards something beyond a natural occuring virus. China shutting itself down again without much info about the virus doesn't make sense to me and again leans toward a possible accidental release as they have done before, more than once. How do you choose your media?

Honolulu is one of seven U.S. airports where flights from China will be allowed to land:

Lucky we live Hawaii, eh?

Not that his credentials make him right, but when many unaffiliated scientists are reaching the same conclusion, it makes that paper out of India seem less reliable, no?"
And just the other day, ironyak flames me in another thread for asking where information comes from.

TomK - And just the other day, ironyak flames me in another thread for asking where information comes from.
Sigh... No, what I objected to was YOU demanding that YOU be told who said something so YOU could judge whether they were qualified enough to have an idea, an idea about which YOU couldn't be bothered to read the links given even though doing so would provide the answer YOU so cared about. However, YOU know what this thread also is not about: YOU
Unless you have thoughts on whether the BLAST results actually support the conclusions of HIV domains in the nCov virus, or the impact of including Honolulu as one of the seven airports for flights from China, or anything actually about THIS topic.
twofeet - I have been watching the medcram videos on YouTube about the coronavirus.
Thanks for mentioning these! This one was particularly good in explaining the challenges of calculating CFR in real-time and what the cases in Germany tell us about incubation time and asymptomatic transmission.

Punatic007 - How do you choose your media?
Oh, I'm pretty agnostic and omnivorous when it comes to media, although I prefer to dig down to primary sources quickly as opposed to finding an opinion or perspective that can be "trusted" or which with I agree. All sources have bias and agenda so minimizing time in the interpretative layer in favor for the underlying data tends to work best IMHO.
Have to ask - how do we know "China has not disclosed what they know"?

I don't think this has been posted previously - but gives a pretty good snapshot of where things stand with the virus:

Produced by Johns Hopkins University - I think a reasonably credible source...

ironyak, this article may answer your question about China not being forthcoming from the onset of the virus...

Now getting back to conspiracy theories, lol, does anyone know is North Korea politically "upset" with China? Wasn't the US threatened with a new strategic weapon for Christmas? Didn't Kim Jong Un have a relative or 2 murdered with bioweapons in other countries?

His half-brother was murdered with a nerve agent.
China is not getting a break. First the "pig ebola" wipes out their pork supply, then the corona virus, and now there is an outbreak of bird flu:

"Using the data described above, is estimated to be 4.08, indicating that an infected #119877; 60 patient infects more than four susceptible people during the outbreak. It may be worth noting that this is an Opinion piece and that study regarding the suppression of info on WeChat is neither directly named nor linked to. Some might say Fake News, but it's not even purporting to be news. Be nice to know their sources!
As for China censoring social media, well yes of course, happening here as well, even based on U.S. government demands.
