Wuhan Corona Virus Coming Soon? (Now Here)
It becomes "fun" or shall I say "awesome" when we can participate in a very interesting and informative conversation with local experts.

Come on Paul, I didn't mean to insult with the "powerlessness" comment, it's universal, it's what we all feel when major cities and airports shutdown over a virus that we don't understand. I like you and I guarantee you'd like me too if we met in person.

The blessing of living in America vs. China is we get to have this conversation exploring all options and they don't. Enjoy it, our ancestors fought and died for us to have our precious freedom.

John Hopkins University Center For Health SECURITY- Dr Amesh Adalja M.D CNBC interview

Ncov19 in the USA

“going to become apart of our seasonal respiratory virus family”

“Surge of patients”

“Containment is going to fail”

All his words, not mine. Worst US outlook I’ve heard so far.

“Experts agree It’s only a matter of time before one of these epidemics goes global”

Boy oh boy was JHU busy this nov/dec discussing across several platforms about the concerns of a global pandemic occurring..... I know it’s all one big coincidence but man it’s a big one.

I really had not be watching this topic develop. You folks sure can beat a subject to death.

It appears this has gotten way, way off base from a Hawaii centric discussion. Bring it back to Hawaii or lose it.

Assume the best and ask questions.

State Health Director Bruce Anderson, who testified before lawmakers Monday at an emergency briefing, said “it’s very likely we will see a case in Hawaii sooner or later” and that military bases are preferred quarantine sites because of the security, limited public access and support staff to help provide meals and other services during a mandatory 14-day quarantine ordered by the Trump administration, which declared a public health emergency.

"Sooner or later", that must be some kind of technical jargon.

its not hard to keep this topic on Hawaii. Its a pandemic Germaine to everyone's health and safety being that Hawaii happens to be a high volume tourist destination.

rainyjim - Bats in China carry all the ingredients to make a new SARS virus

Of course they do - bat populations are like natures own petri-dishes allowing for the mixing, matching, selection of more infectious corona virus strains. Not sure if it matters if it was bat-to-scientist-to-public or bat-to-wetmarket-to-public - the results are the same.

Not that there's much chance for human contact, but I wonder if our Hawaiian hoary bats also have some unique corona viruses of interest. (that counts, right? Wink

Hawaii does have some natural advantages as warmer temperatures and humidity degrade viruses quicker (why flu isn't common in the summer) so hopefully nCov isn't able to get as much of a foothold here as many people are talking it about becoming a new addition to the seasonal flu mix.

Sure, I’ll bring it back to Hawaii. 94.7 a local station, airs a civil defense message. A message about ncov. About 1 minute long. Updates will follow was said at the end. I just heard it today, not sure how long civil defense has been airing them.

Yep it's a message not an alert....

Can't copy it. Gov agencies are making a pamphlet and promise to keep us informed. Seems a little inappropriate to me, should be for alerts only IMO.

"A partnership was formed of key agencies of your Federal, State, and County Government, along with the medical community to ensure you receive timely and accurate information about the coronavirus. This partnership is committed to providing the residents of Hawaii County the most reliable and accurate information available. As part of this partnership, an informational pamphlet is being developed that addresses the most frequently asked questions and will be ready for distribution this Friday."

This type of event might actually be perfect for Magno - already has practice restricting people from traveling from their homes and how to shelter people in the local gym. I'm sure the open walls will protect against nCov as well as they did against SO2.
