See above: there is no requirement that a LID bring the roads to "dedicable" (including 60-feet right-of-way), nor is the County required to accept the roads once they've been improved. It's up to the residents to decide how much "improvement" they're willing to pay for, but this means an organized resistance to the County's agenda -- but if we had that level of organization, we wouldn't be reacting to County's overreach.

Rezoning and prohibition of catchment are completely separate issues.

Note that if you don't get a survey, your failure to respond is counted as a vote in favor of the LID.

After speaking with more than 20 lot owners, not a single lot owner received a survey. Most are opposed to pavement , county water or any form of mandatory dues
Some friends om Road Eight have never paid dues as they live on pavement already .

Let's not pretend that the County gives a rat's ass what the public thinks. Surveys and meetings and commentary periods are smokescreens that imply that they are listening.

Is this something they're actually considering doing? This would crash land values in the Acres -- below $0, probably. A parcel currently worth $40,000 would crash to a price of ($140,000)*, by my estimate. Any owners in the Acres should be screaming bloody murder about the idea of being forced to pay for this.

*Math Stuff:

Land prices are actually capitalized rental value coming from net-income availability. For example: a parcel that is worth $40,000 has, best-case scenario, a rental value of $2,000/yr, or $167/month, based on an assumed capitalization rate of 5%.

If you impose an extra cost on that parcel of $750/month, its rental value will be ($583)/month, which would drop the price of the parcel to ($140,000). In other words: landowners would have to pay people about $140,000 to take ownership -- and the imposed costs of the roads -- off their hands.

Thanks for the response. As an owner, how would you do that, from a legal perspective? Is there a way you can just erase your name from the title? Or would you have to refuse to pay the road fees and hope that they'll take over the property instead of trying to sue you for the fees?

Stop paying property tax. County then auctions the land to pay back taxes. My understanding is the process takes many years, but who cares?

I'd like to see the projected cost of adopting the preferred plan shown at this link, namely paving only the lettered roads.  
Paved to standards similar to Fern Acres, for example.

Projected costs include hidden requirements that are being implied by County, not asserted by the landowners.

Rough estimate based on these inaccurate numbers: $200M to pave the lettered roads in FA.

Note also that one of the benefits of pavement (eg, "ag tourism permit") does not accrue so long as the roads remain privately owned.
