He’s retiring, but will he continue to cash his congressional paycheck until the end of his term, while he flies planes for Hawaiian Air?
Must be nice when your job description doesn’t require you to show up for work. Maybe Jen Ruggles, Tulsi Gabbard, Kai Kahele, et al should have / should get paid by the meeting, and by the vote.

Don't worry, Obie, I won't vote for him, but in all fairness I read that he hasn't missed a vote in Congress.

he hasn't missed a vote in Congress.
The House of Representatives involves far more than review of a bill from 5000 miles away and voting on it. Most reps engage in discussions over lunch, in the hallway, or elsewhere, strategizing and deciphering background and tangents that may affect millions of Americans based on the outcome of the vote. A rep’s office is a hub of activity that can’t be duplicated by phone, text, or Zoom. After work aids, interns and staff head to bars in Georgetown for behind the scene updates from colleagues who work for other reps. Again, the nuances of you-didn’t-hear-it-from-me conversations are not easily conveyed without face to face interaction.
You can’t make sausage (as the process of making a bill is often referred to) unless you grind the meat.

I guess it's either a politician's role to be dishonest or pretend to be honest if you go by Kai Kahele. His use of the now illegal gut-and-replace tactic and his lies when making presentations to local folk about Mauna Kea stick in my mind as someone who has few morals.

I see Walter Ritte is encouraging all of the anti TMT protesters to vote for Kahele.

I doubt that having Kahele in Congress will not have much or any influence on what happens with TMT.

He is no longer in Congress, he is running for governor.

He may not be able to continue his job with Hawaiian Airlines if he becomes governor.

It makes sense as being governor of a state seems to be a full-time job.

Put this in the "whoopsie" category:
"Kai Kahele’s gubernatorial campaign, which has made a point to shun donations from special interest groups, will not be eligible for the public funding he’s so vigorously championed this election cycle.
Kahele was supposed to file an affidavit promising to abide by spending limits along with his candidate paperwork. But he failed to file that document so state officials say he can’t receive public money." ... "This means that if Kahele were to win the primary – a tall order, given Lt. Gov. Josh Green’s 30 point lead according to a recent Civil Beat poll – his campaign would miss out on over $400,000 of readily available public funding.
