So yah, Super legit . Your sad comic adds more. I pray speaking for you alone.. Not your peers who see this from you in other forums
All the links work for me. I don't know what other fora you are talking about, but I'm sure you are happy imagining stuff. And this isn't about me, it's about the work done by the observatories on Mauna Kea.

Two links are prior and other is not even working. Zero mentioned of + How you.
Fascinating discussion about the DART mission, what it means to humanity in the future, the contributions of Mauna Kea astronomers and astronomers at other observatories around the world…
… and someone who can’t click a web page link and blames the person who simply posted the link, but isn’t responsible for the web site or connection to the web site. If I’m reading his questions correctly, he doesn’t seem to know exactly what information he’s looking for, but wants it spoon fed for his consumption.

'elepaio,
I initially had some sympathy for you for the perceived harshness of some posts directed toward you. I'm rethinking that.

I think when someone starts threatening to contact your employer for posts you make on social media that are simply your own opinion then you have a very disturbed and potentially dangerous person posting on PW. As for being spoon-fed, it's not even clear what he's asking for especially as he doesn't even know the difference between scientific research papers and a dictionary.

No need to do that now, but you're not wrong.

People complain about how much the observatories pay to lease the land. Here's a recent comparison that can be made. The going rate for a DHHL lease on Big Island with improvements, about $34 per acre:
In Honomū, the initial offer is 100 acres each for three potential revocable permits. The property perimeter is fenced, and a common access easement may need to be created and interior fences installed to separate the three potential users. The proposed initial rent is $1,132.

I didn't really want to discuss the rent thing on this particular thread as it doesn't seem relevant and I've brought this up before on other MKO-related threads. However, since it's been brought up, please remember that the rent the observatories pay is 15% of their annual operating budget that goes to the UH. The idea behind that is it funds education for STEM students at the university, especially those studying astronomy and physics.
15% of such a budget is a lot of money that the observatories need to find. It's late and have just got back from work so am not going to research the numbers right now, but we're talking about several million dollars a year. The idea that the observatories only pay $1 per year each is ridiculous but it sounds good if you're against them.

15% of such a budget is ... several million dollars a year
Funny how nobody ever hears about that part.
That said ... the anti-everything sentiment is strong: Ironman needs to go somewhere else, vacation rentals have to be shut down, new parking fees (only for visitors, of course), moratorium on new resort construction ... going to make it harder for the telescopes even though they're not really the problem.
