Real Estate Agent for Eden Roc
#1
Aloha all!

It has been some time since I posted here.  We retired 3 1/2 years ago and never really got the chance to spend time at our cottage up in Eden Roc since you can't leave a place empty there and you can't go there when you have a tenant.  I've grown somewhat tired of filing taxes in both the US and Canada and my wife and I figure it would probably make sense to sell the cottage and use the proceeds to fund our retirement travels.  Besides, Hawaii has become quite expensive these last few years and we've been heading to Mexico mostly for our 'snow bird' parts of the year.

In any case, I thought I would ask you good folks if you had a recommendation for a real estate agent who would provide assistance in selling the place.  My cousin is an agent now on the mainland and has lived in Hawaii in the past so she has given us a ball park estimate of a list price as well as a 'family price' we are offering to our tenant.  Our hope is that our tenant can swing the financing to buy the place and wouldn't have to look for a new home but she's not sure she can swing the financing on it so I'd like to start getting a plan B ready just in case.

Thank you all for any advice you may be able to provide in this direction and for all of the talk story we've shared over the years.
Me ka ha`aha`a,
Mike

Thank you terracore!

Mike, please reach out if I can help you and it falls through with your tenant being able to purchase. If your tenant needs a loan officer please let me know if I can give you the name of the one I work with, she's great and so helpful! Not all loan/mortgage people and companies are created equal.

Have a great week,

Have a great week,

Thanks you two! Here in Canada we have mortgage brokers who work with a number of financial institutions and really work hard to get deals done. They get a commission from the financial institutions but my experience is if you find a good one they are doing everything they can to make it work for the person wanting to buy a home.

Two days until we fly back to Canada. Dayna represented us very well in our real estate transaction. She helped us price our place perfectly (and much higher than we'd thought we'd get) which resulted in a quick offer. The buyer was a bit slow on getting to completion but Dayna walked us through the process every step of the way, which was greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dayna, for helping keep our stress levels under control and getting our place sold!

Congratulations. Someone told me that real estate prices had come down a bit for Puna in the past few months. Not so? Good for you.

Mahalo! Surprised anyone on here would be familiar with the language on the Island 2300 miles to the North East.

The offer was made at the end of November, not sure how much its come down, but our expectations were not in line with reality and we were pleasantly surprised at where we ended up. You can check Zillow to see recent sales in the area. I had initially thought that Zillow was over estimating the value, as Redfin was much lower, but Dayna assured us it was in that ballpark. This is why we hired a professional, and a very nice hard working professional at that.

Now that you are free and clear of it, you willing to share the TMK or address so I can see the tax/sales history? I'm pondering listing some things, I'd like to align my perceptions with reality.
