Looks like Gov Josh curtailed a bit of the wild wild west from coming to Hawaii.
Governor signs laws banning guns in ‘sensitive’ places, requiring active shooter drills in schools (hawaiinewsnow.com)
Until the lawsuits get filed and millions of taxpayer dollars get pissed away............
At least I can look forward to hanging my grandchildren's Active Shooter Training Completion Certificate/Diploma on the wall!

Yep, gun free zone signs make everyone feel safer. Including the deranged shooters.
This a health crisis then takes the off ramp on reality.
Ask the Kids..they already practice this and can opt out.
Never should scare/scar the little ones by saying what they are practicing for either unless get parents approval.
I loved seeing and chatting with Officer Mike on campus. Just Solid.
In other news today another triggered woman finds a way.

Gun violence is a culture problem, not a hardware problem.
Case in point: these laws will be silently ignored by criminals, including otherwise law-abiding citizens who feel the need to carry in "prohibited" places.

So very true!
But, as we have learned throughout time, prohibition always increases demand for what was prohibited!

Considering HNL and HI Counties already had safe space laws in place, this is a big nothing burger but I'm sure helped to boost the governors ego

Per HTH: County rules were considered a "stopgap" until they could be superseded by State rules.
Because, you know, the State might be concerned with more important things. Like the toilet paper shortage (again).

Actually, this puts the defense of the law on the state, which makes the expected challenge in the courts their kuleana. And, I imagine, makes for a quicker resolve, and broader the ultimate impacts of those decisions. All paid for with state dollars, rather than piecemeal by the counties.

A recent report on how using guns to defend your home is working out in Hawaii. More a criminal attractant than a thief deterrent:
The victim added that one of the masked suspects held him down while the other masked suspect and Gonsalves entered his residence and removed several items, including a pistol, a shotgun, and a rifle
