From M2's birth here on PunaWeb, I was hoping that the wrangling of people who call women disgusting, vile misogynistic terms, ask if they need instructions to perform sex acts on other male posters, ask how many times they "dropped their drawers" for a former Civil Defense Administrator etc., or those people who no matter what have to insert National/World politics into virtually every thread or, as we see on page 1 of this thread, attack another poster for a simple request to back up a thread that poster created years ago as the subject was near to his heart would finally happen but then after only being in the M2 role for a few short days felt that maybe no, that was not going to be M2's intention. It was just going to be more of the same ole same ole.
Then, over the period of a few short months, I think M2 had a revelation. He/she started to read the posts. The posts that resulted in someone having to post filth about baseball bats vis-a-vis Okoles. The posts that started the rehashing of an event from 7 plus years ago being a deliberate act tied to today's politics and recent national elections. Posts filled with vile disgusting misogyny against a woman being edited and/or deleted. And even seeing a 4th, 5th, 6th time reincarnated poster coming back as a plant pot salesman being squashed!
FINALLY!!!
I again commend what M2 has done in the last 172 hours here on PunaWeb hands down and without any reservation whatsoever.
And remember another thing. YOU ALL BEGGED ROB FOR MORE MODERATION OF PUNAWEB.
YOU all made your beds. Now, you got to sleep in them!
M2 deserves a bonus. Not ridicule or disdain.

Hilo Julie,
Your entire post is a rehash. Ad Nauseam That is my humble observation.
I have seen other posters ask for moderation (that includes you) during certain heated discussions. We all weren't begging.
While I don't agree with how Kane's post was moderated; I would have preferred that he had the chance to clarify his post. The deletions made it impossible to restore the post to it's original state. What is done is done. Moderator 2 does not have an easy job, and no good deed goes unpunished.
You also can't please everyone.
I will state one last time to you, that I don't agree with My Manao's name calling towards you.
I am not trying to start an argument with you. I am stating how I see it. We are both head strong and will not change each other's opinion.

A few quick comments on the most recent posts above (quick edit: written before Wahine added hers)
In a normal Punaweb environment moderation of the events cited probably would have been more hands off. But over Thanksgiving we had a perfect storm, or perhaps more accurately an imperfect storm which included extended commentary about national and international events, loss of decorum, the reincarnation of a past member, and a new member who quickly flooded the forum with redundant posts.
This does not even include a lengthy unpleasant behind the scenes event that was mostly, as is often the case, a personal misunderstanding as to what Punaweb can and cannot do, is responsible for, even mistaken identity. This was completely unrelated to the events listed above, but subsequently affected decisions on the events above.
The imperfect storm created a climate of our time, a Puna Warming or perhaps even a Puna Overheating during Thanksgiving week that in my judgment became too much, too fast, and overwhelmed the usual discussions we normally have on Punaweb. Puna related conversations. So yes, the moderation was greater than usual.
I would add that in the past there have been times when fact checks played a larger role in the moderation process, as during the COVID crisis, but as noted by My 2 cents it hasn’t been the norm.
Thanks to My 2 cents, Punatang, and HiloJulie for their observations.
