Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids in Hawaii
The CBP jobs are for HNL.

I'm sure the ag specialists will be carrying heavy weapons against aggressive radishes.

CBP Agriculture Specialists safeguard American agriculture by preventing the introduction of harmful exotic plant pests and foreign animal diseases, and potential agricultural bioterrorism into the United States.

Going to be tough living on Oahu on these starting wages !
Grade Base Salary Average FY 2023 Locality Pay * Total Compensation
GS-5 $32,357 $10,513 $42,870
GS-7 $40,082 $13,023 $53,105

Notice the dates and location? It's actually a recruiting event in conjunction with the Hawaii Spartan challenge in Waialua. Looking in places for folks that can run a 5k, carry 100lb stones, and scramble over cargo net A-frames - those Honolulu radishes must really be some tough hombres!

And I'm sure rounding up abuelas was on the job descriptions for U.S. Postal Inspectors as well, given they're also being tapped for performing raids. But hey, ICE has lifted their age requirements so you can get in there now Obie and directly support what you believe in, rather than just performing limp-wristed fluffing online.

Didn't look at whatever it was you posted a link to.

Did my own research into CBP job openings in Hawaii, I found the are hiring for Oahu just like I posted.

I don't know how you managed to tie Postal Inspectors and ICE together but neither are listed in the CBP openings.

How could you possibly know what I support and by the way, I'm 78 years old so probably will just stay retired.

I did click on the links and you are right again-it's definitely a targeted recruitment at the time of this event.

5K a piece of cake, but I think the cargo net climb would actually be more difficult than it looks. Also, the 100 lb. rock hoist would be iffy for me, not sure I could do it.  In any case it's a great way to get a hernia.

Nope, count me out.    Besides, ya gotta wear a mask to be an ICE agent.  Come on, man!  Aren't we over that, after Covid?

Yet you feel the need to opine even without reading or watching any of the information provided and instead "did your own research"- explains more than you could ever say. Keep cheering on the police state from the sidelines and enjoy the sun setting in your retirement. Maybe spend some time with the dictionary and research the meanings of ignominy, odium, and obloquy as they'll forever be applicable to those that helped bring about these events.

I just looked at it.

It's addressed to "Anti Ice protesters"

Why would I want to research that crap. How soon til your TDS causes you to go more wacko and start killing people.

So you know what's actually going on in the state you mostly inhabit? (For Mod2's sake, I mean Hawaii, not the more obvious answer, denial ;) It's amazing what you can learn once you start bothering to read.

You vote for a semi-literate felon con-man, convicted of sexual assault, with numerous ties to pedophiles but think those who disapprove of such people are wackos? How's your chosen representative reflect local Aloha values Obie? Or how is he doing for Hawaii? Things getting better here between the drops in tourism, the removal of farm workers, the increase in prices due to tariffs, the random harassment of legal visitors, and the cuts in funding for education, food, farms, medical insurance, and research? If you're going to insist on bending over and licking the boots at least put some effort into defending why.

What is "it"?   I don't see any link Yak posted that addresses these protestors.

Bingo!

It's why I seldom visit here anymore. There's no simple way to block the crazies on these sorts of forums short of, in this case, building a new plugin for myBB.

In the past 3 pages of posts in this topic alone, five of those users are on my ignore list and that's no surprise considering the topic. Unfortunately, the ignore list doesn't block them from seeing my posts. And that is why the conflict cycle doesn't end on PW and the user population is way down. That all began with the political divisive era that recently engulfed this nation.  But today, a successful digital social common requires that an individual have the ability to associate with those they find to be socially productive while having the ability to block those who are in conflict with that goal.

I'm sure the vegetable aisle will chime in now, but it will fall on deaf ears over here. LOL.

There's a whole bunch of us here that could engage in meaningful productive dialog without conflict but without the option of blocking, it won't happen much and most people have simply stopped using the forum altogether. The old moderator role can't replace a user based block feature within today's social common world as the only other way to block is to simply not partake.
