Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids in Hawaii
(08-14-2025, 08:08 PM)Obie Wrote: Tell ironyak to back off and leave out his references to brownshirts etc.

Ah, but Obie, Yak is just stating the obvious.. that there are parallels, and they are more, and bigger, and with the latest events there is a real foundation for being concerned about, recognizing, the dangers..

All I was doing was giving him a ditto.. and pointing out that there are some of us to whom this is a more personal, active, and real concern.

I'd love to go your route.. there's nothing here.. the good ol Sgt Schultz "I see nothing" routine.. but I suspect naivety isn't an option this time around..

The one thing we have going for us here is our multinational diversity, we're hiding in plane sight, and the need for our citizens to do the work. It served us during past bouts of mass insanity when there was more of it on the mainland than here. But still, we have our history of which the Honouliuli Internment Camp on Oahu is the shining example. And gee.. we even imprisoned folks right here, locally, at KMC. But yeah, the dangers are less here than where they are already imposing their insanity. But it's coming, and Yak, in his visionary way, is just pointing out the obvious. I am sorry you don't see it.. but then, as Sgt Schultz said..

If Hawai’i, with a population that is 30% Japanese ancestry, can round up and lock up large groups of people of Japanese ancestry… it’s a good example of the kind of decisions and actions that humans are capable of. Especially if those “just following orders” are young, easily manipulated, and armed.

And even more especially, when they are enticed to come join and "follow those orders" by it being "Patriotic" and "Defending The Homeland" and promised a boat load of cash. And take away SNAP and/or Medicaid recipients to pay for it.

The whole Maui Filipino Teacher debacle is proof that this has nothing to do with the worst of the worst, but just anybody who looks (fill in blank)

And a 50 year resident of Hawaii, Purple Heart Recipient and US Military Veteran who is made to either self deport or be locked up is just more proof that its nothing more than an ethnic based round up.

Draw your own conclusions as to the similarities of sins past.

Natzi vs. NPC zombie sheeps who will reign supreme ? ?

Yeah, I guess those female Filipino teachers deserved being yanked out of their beds in their underwear by a dozen plus masked "Patriots" "Defending the Homeland."

Also, does your prior comment of "knowing these people live amongst us" apply to those Filipino teachers as well?

Talk about sheep!

If Obie would ever bother to read any of the sources provided, he'd recognize that's it's not just me, but the SPLC, Amnesty International, congress members, governors, academics, historians, and journalists with familiarity of authoritarian regimes all making the same comparisons and raising the same concerns. Hell, ICE is even openly embracing the comparison in its recruitment materials.

Whether you use the language of Hawaii Senator Schatz in comparing the administration to a "competitive autocracy" like Orban's, or Hawaii Senator Hirono's calls "to keep fighting - we cannot lay down while this regime destroys our democracy & launches our country into an authoritarian state", or Puna Rep Ilagan's efforts to prevent Hawaii "state and counties from providing land to the federal government for the establishment of any immigration detention facility", when you have a paramilitary organization rounding up people based on their ethnicity and holding them in facilities where their population is concentrated, the similar past events from Hawaii and the wider world are not just coming, many of them are already here.

Gee, Obie, I suppose you're blessed not to have ancestors that lived through the Warsaw Ghetto only to be carted off to perish in the Treblika killing center. How fortunate that you weren't raised with every family get together being a slough through the old stories of how your great grandparents were incinerated. Lucky you.

Some of us weren't so lucky. Some of us remember.. it's in our genes. Your insensitivity is, from our perspective, inhumane. But hey, how would you know? You were spared.. gee for all we know your ancestors were on the other side.

And now, today, with the news as it is.. we remember.. graphically. So please.. have a heart brah.

"Some of us weren't so lucky. Some of us remember.."

What do you remember? Please describe your memories. Sorry, but I'm tired of your crap. My father fought alongside the Americans on D-Day at Omaha Beach. He was part of a detachment to provide rapid RDF cover for the landing forces and fought for our freedom alongside his friends, colleagues, and allies, many of whom died that day. My mother was in Austria hiding from the Nazis in the Alps with her mother and sisters. Her two brothers had already been forced to fight for the Nazis and never returned.

You consider yourself not so lucky. I consider myself lucky I had parents who survived through that horrible time, and at least one of them is still with me to talk about that period and became the greatest generation.

So please, you don't remember things through your genes, and for all you know, YOU don't know if your ancestors were on the other side. Fortunately, rational people don't hold today's generations responsible for what happened in the past. Perhaps your view is different, but then I've never thought you are rational.

Speaking of licking ass while keeping it Hawaii, may I suggest a nice cup of Kona grown Bad Ass Coffee!

They have a wonderful selection that you can order over the internets and have delivered right to your door or mailbox and no real ass licking is involved, but drinking Bad Ass Coffee is!

Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii

THE BAD ASS LEGEND
For generations, the donkeys of Kona, Hawaii could be heard bellowing as they carried precious loads of coffee beans down the steep mountains of the Big Island. The native people of Kona named these hard-working donkeys the “Bad Ass Ones” because of their reliably strong, but stubborn nature in carrying their precious cargo.

The legend of those hard-working donkeys lives on today at Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii where we’re stubborn about our sourcing, roasting and serving quality Hawaiian coffee and doing so with the Aloha Spirit.

Say no to licking ass and yes to drinking some good Kona grown Bad Ass Coffee. You can even enjoy a cup while posting on PunaWeb!
