Definitely (probably?) not aliens, but by the looks of the site no one is monitoring at night so who knows?  For the sake of the guessing game, let’s say no.
It involves one type of landing for certain, but not the kind that might first come to mind.  It’s possible another first-to-mind landing does take place on occasion.

I've given up. I was wondering if you saying "NEAR" might give it away so looked up "national", "environment", "agency" but gave up as it's New Year's eve and there are other things to do! I think I'm close or a million miles away.

Well, go figure. Barney sits in my chair in front of the computer and 3 barks latter, up pops the location of HOTPE's latest guessing game question! I also think he knows what the three triangular shaped markings are and/or what they are for, but he is not letting on and I still have no idea myself.

Since I guessed the last one, I won't divulge its location, so let's let this run a bit longer

It’s a satellite photo.
It’s not IN Puna but is NEAR Puna.  Walking distance for some.
The photo is large so you may need to scroll to see all of it, there are 3 triangle shaped mystery markers.

I found it, but I still have no idea what it is!  Maybe a park maintenance building with piles of gravel for patching up roads and trails?
