What is it? Where is it?
Close! In fact very close!

But not the belt road. And depending on the direction you're going, you could be volcano bound, where if you are going the other direction, where you would have seen this sign, one could say you are Pahoa bound.

That sign was up for several years but disappeared in late 2024.

I know Iʻve seen it. Is it one of the roller coaster roads that are part of the Ainaloa/back roads to the Belt Rd.?
Certainty will be the death of us.

Getting closer - but the "roller coaster" roads reference could be 80% of the island! (Joking, of course!)

Now, to be clear, IF you were headed TOWARDS the belt road, you would not see this sign...

But wait, what's happening now?  Is it time for SuperMyManao to appear? Has the thread been hijacked, and someone has hurt feelings? Wait with bated breath for the next exciting episode to see what happens.

Going back to page 8 of this thread, Cat Rock, Napua, Maunaulu, here’s a photo of Maunaulu during the 1969 eruption phase:

I love those old Ford station wagons in that picture HOTPE!

So, no one knows where that Aloha sign was? Did I stump PunaWeb?

While everyone waits for an answer, how about guessing or telling us what the glow above the horizon in the attached image is caused by?

Need more hints. Is this something I would encounter while biking, or is it a sign a driver would miss at car speeds?

kalianna had it real close with the guess of the roller coaster roads that are part of the Ainaloa/back roads to the Belt Rd.?

But as I mentioned earlier, depending on the direction you're going, you could be volcano bound, where if you are going the other direction, where you would have seen this sign, one could say you are Pahoa bound

You could see it biking, and in a car driving reasonable speeds. The key is in the direction you are going.

One additional hint which no doubt will give it away, but the road it was on has a number and a name!

If everyone else cries uncle I'll spill the beans.. but really this isn't rocket science.. i.e., there's only one plausible answer.
