We are getting things together so we can flee the comming winter weather here in Iowa. I am certain we will be fine in Hawaii, my wife on the other hand seems to think she has heard (read) of big problems with being the newbie's. (FNG's (F***ing New Guys) [

I told her it is pretty much like anywhere else, it is what you make of it. I picked Puna, because IMHO there seems to be a lot more like minded folks in certain communities than other areas/islands, and the cost of paradise is less there. [:p]
Being a mixed couple will be less the issue there than here? Not that I have had much thought about that being a problem before thinking about moving to Hawaii, so probably won't be a big deal since I believe race is less and issue there?
