Let me be the first to agree that 95% of all first hand observations are alarmist. Further alarmists by nature are always claiming the sky is falling.

I used to work for a big utility. The public must be met, educated, and questions answered again and again. PGV is certainly not doing it's PR work well. Gypsy by now should be a world expert on geothermal energy.

He should know about drilling mud, where the backup generators are, see that they are working, and witness an autoswitchover test.

Based on his ability to remember, record, and observe he is certainly not as you suggested.

It is natural for him to jump to the conclusion that PGV is at fault since it is right near him.

Are you on the Big Island now? Have you seen any if this Ohia diebacks? If it is more than just a localized issue the forests are in for big changes.
