UPDATE--Observatory damage not caused by firearm!
#91
Oh come on! It was obviously a 45 cal. bolt.

20/20 hindsight can provide us with a clear view of the events that took place.
But it can also obscure some of the details:

A police report was issued that said a bullet hole was found in the observatory door. Nobody on this website made that up.

At that time, comments were based on the assumption that someone had fired a shot at the door. Some people expressed concern that workers nearby could have been hurt, and it's a concern that was not unwarranted at the time.

Was the "shot" fired intentionally? Unintentionally? No one knew, and that's when comments about who and why and how entered the area of pure speculation. Those are the comments that proved to be wrong.
“We do this thing not because it is easy, but because we thought it would be easy.”
