After the storm, we were very fortunate HELCO removed those huge trees off our main drags pronto. We wouldn't have been able to handle most of that on our own. The road reflectors that are missing or damaged haven't been replaced yet. Makuu and Paradise have a real safety issue w/out those reflectors for night time driving and worse yet when it's raining. The RTSC requested the GM look into that a couple of months or more ago.

The roads need to be striped before any additional investment is made in RPM's. The only place there is striping is where the county striped for the lava flow on Maku'u Drive. As per county specs the RPM's need to be removed before they stripe and then reinstalled after the striping has been completed.

Yes, that was the add'l thing RTSC had asked the GM to do was to restripe the roads. But RTSC is gone now and can't do follow up w/him. We asked the GM to replace a lot of street signs in the Kaloli Pt area and on Ala Heiau. It looks great. But a cpl signs on K Rd need to have the letters put on them. That somehow was omitted.
And the other policies RTSC had hoped to implement to set road safety standards in the park will never be. If policies were established, all mgmts to come would have guidelines to follow. But we like to start from square 1 in HPP. The VP said she was going to change all of them when she first saw them anyways. I guess she has better ideas that don't involve MUTCD, which is used nationally and by HI county. Why wouldn't the mgmt want to use guidelines that are already tried and true?
Our March and April board minutes still aren't posted but May is. March and April's minutes spoke about the illegal website expenditure and conflict of interest. Is that why? RTSC minutes show dates for their minutes but you can't access them. The road hump policy still hasn't been put back on the website. Did they lose it when it got yanked off w/out board approval?
