Metal roofing?

Lew we have stayed in large hotels and small B & B, and homes on island. At times it can be very noisy. The homes we stayed in had open beam ceilings with like tong and groove with metal roofing and skylights of corrugated plastic, that magically didn't leak! I don't know if it had any insulation but would guess not. We loved it and it wasn't driving us out, had to turn up the volume on the DVD, Castaway!! Tom Hanks! We got on the plane two days later and no problem there either!!
