The membership does not have the power to make the AG get involved or to punish violations of the law.
Members in the past have tried reaching out to the AG. Response was that they have a small staff of employees and advised members to seek like minded individuals, pool their $ and hire an atty.
As for Katarina's comments about flyingsurfer...he puts himself out there in a way that attracts this kind of bad attention. His demeanor at meetings shows lack of control. In his defense of certain board reps, he's been out of line towards members. He's been confrontational towards me a few times now, unprovoked at board and membership mtgs. He's a big guy w/a big voice trying to intimidate others including small females. Hope you'll rein in that temper at future meetings flyingsurfer. There's no excuse for that kind of behavior.
Yes all board's seem to have their problems. Remnants of the board from the 2014-2015 group that fired the 3 employees in one fell swoop have taken it to a whole other level most of us have never seen. That's what happens when there's no accountability exerted by their peers.
It's the board's responsibility to rein in rogue board members who retaliate against members and continuously make a mockery of our bylaws and policies. These kinds of people bring liability to the association. Hence the lawsuit we're in and now the arbitration.
That's why the bylaws and conduct policy has provisions for the board to take action against peers who are rogue. Members don't have the same provisions other than a recall or arbitration. For unknown reasons, the majority board looks the other way. This makes them all culpable except for the one board member who always speaks up for the membership.
